May we call for a change of government?

Unimaginable Intentional Human Suffering
by Peter Chamberlin 1/27/8
informationclearinghouse.info/article19212.htm
...man-made disasters caused by ambitious men who are allowed to rise to the top, where they dominate us for self-gain. We allow...instead of actually choosing who shall lead us...we tend to follow the natural order of things along the path of least resistance. By taking the easy way out, we give our blessing to the law of the jungle...elitist thinkers believe that it is necessary for our government to “cull” the “useless eaters” from the face of the earth, through forced population reduction and perpetual war...to kill-off a significant portion of the earth’s “dead weight,”... terrorizing others into submission with our killing power and basic lack of morality...an abomination upon the American spirit, equal to the abomination in which this spirit was founded, when we wiped-out the first Americans...evils which we have learned to accept...Ideas cannot fight against raw power, unless they become a shared idea...We have to make our countrymen see the reality beyond the illusions...The people of the United States must...understand that...genocide is government policy...the world’s number one source of state terrorism, the government of the United States of America. The American people can only save themselves if they are made aware of the fact that they are under attack by those who claim to be their trusted leaders...The people of every nation must rise-up and become their own governments, the only truly democratic government...
...roots of corruption that support all that is hostile to human life... inner workings of our criminal government...research on the roots of the Islamic Militant Network and its CIA origins has blown the lid off the most important story of the Twenty-first Century. globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7718 ...
The case proving government complicity in the 9/11 attacks which initiated the war on terrorism is becoming stronger every day. In addition to all the forensic evidence from the attacks and the unbelievable string of “coincidences” that made the attacks possible, we now know that Islamist terrorists, “associated with al Qaida” have been key elements of US foreign policy up until, and including, the time of the Trade Center attack. We have begun to understand the depth of US/CIA involvement in the destabilizing of a dozen or more countries with these highly-trained Islamic “insurgencies.” This criminal foreign policy of creating radical Islamic militias for the purpose of starting wars in nations now at peace creates ever-expanding bands of Islamic uprisings throughout the Middle East and southeast Asia, justifying genocidal counter-attacks as “fighting terrorism.”
...Israel created Hamas and the US and Israel created al Qaida.
...Palestinians, like Americans and all other targeted populations must follow the scripts that have been written for them and rise-up in defiant acts of self-defense, so that all the complainers can be bombed into bloody submission...
The scale of the intentional suffering being inflicted by supposedly moral human beings, who consider themselves superior to their victims, is unimaginable. What is even more unimaginable is the international spectacle of other supposedly moral nations fawning over the killers, each nation trying harder than the next to suck-up to those who are starving helpless children, depriving them of medicine, and mowing them down with cannon and machine gun fire, in order to wipe them from their land and erase them from the “pages of time.” The international horror shows of “diplomacy” and “humanitarianism” are shams, meant to seduce the masses into reveling in the bloodlust that is scheduled to head in their direction. “Negotiations” with pseudo-humanitarians like Bush, Olmert and Cheney can be nothing more than discussing terms of surrender. One day soon, the entire earth will rise-up against this axis of evil. Our actions today will determine if the people of America stand with the rest of the world against our own government, or if we will continue in our surrender to the beasts of the modern jungle, who intend to devour everything we hold dear.
The earth is standing at the edge of a dark precipice; on the other side is the greatest epic in mankind’s history, waiting to be written, waiting for those of us who dare to...fight the darkness of the lies...as dedicated to defending life as the enemies of life are dedicated to ending it...a new sustaining vision of life. We must first choose to place our own freedom in jeopardy, by stepping forward to stop those who would take us into the void in a vain gamble to crush most of the earth’s life for the sake of greater “profit.”...

There is no difference in principle between sharpening perception with an external instrument, such as a microscope, and sharpening it with an internal instrument, such as one of these...drugs. If they are an affront to the dignity of the mind, the microscope is an affront to the dignity of the eye and the telephone to the dignity of the ear. Strictly speaking, these drugs do not impart wisdom at all, any more than the microscope alone gives knowledge. They provide the raw materials of wisdom, and are useful to the extent that the individual can integrate what they reveal into the whole pattern of his behavior and the whole system of his knowledge.

...Evidence-based decision-making -- is a cardinal principle.
First do no harm -- a prudential principle, that mandates the least noxious interventions first and life-threatening ones only as a last resort, that urges wariness of possible unintended effects, that proscribes treatment which may be worse than the disease, and that eschews actions with certain lethal consequences.
Treat the underlying etiology or causes, not merely the symptoms.
Prevent the disease where possible, in preference to treating it after it occurs.
Adhere to established standards of action.

Deception: Pakistan, the United States, and the Secret Trade in Nuclear Weapons

"In President George W. Bush's State of the Union address in 2002, he pinpointed three nuclear hot spots as threats to the free world: Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. What he did not admit was America's role in facilitating the spread of nuclear weapons to these "axis of evil" powers and the critical part played by a key U.S. ally: the Pakistan military government and its front man, the nuclear scientist A. Q. Khan."...seen as a crucial buffer state and ally - first against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, now in the "war on terror"...building a vast nuclear arsenal in large part with U.S. aid money and selling the technology to countries hostile to the West, while more recently giving shelter to the resurgent Taliban and al-Qaeda." "Deception is the most complete account of Pakistan's clandestine nuclear network as it has extended from Islamabad around the world, and chronicles how Khan's operation, and his ultimate fall from grace, have been part of a much larger deceit. As Levy and Scott-Clark relate, every American administration from Jimmy Carter's to George W. Bush's has condoned Pakistan's nuclear activity - rewriting and destroying evidence provided by U.S. and Western intelligence agencies; lying to Congress and the American people about Pakistan's intentions and capability so that U.S. aid to Pakistan, prohibited to countries illicitly holding nuclear weapons, could be maintained; secretly supplying components and equipment to Pakistan in the full knowledge that they could be used in a nuclear program; even tipping off the Pakistani government about criminal probes into its nuclear program by U.S. agencies." "Deception puts our current standoffs with Iran and North Korea, and the quagmire in Iraq, in a startling new perspective, revealing that the lies about WMD in Iraq could only succeed if the truth about Pakistan was suppressed. And it charts how Pakistan has gone from being an ally to a rogue nation at the epicenter of world instability, and how by papering over the root cause of the nuclear crises that are upon us, the United States has helped usher in a new age of nuclear terror." "Based on hundreds of interviews over the past decade in the United States, Pakistan, India, Israel and the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Deception is a masterwork of reportage and dramatic storytelling by two of the world's most resourceful investigative journalists. Urgently important, and offering deep insight into the ways our foreign policy is formulated, it should stimulate debate and command a reexamination of our national priorities."--BOOK JACKET.

Local Living Economies and Urban Farming, a Public Lecture Series at CMU
1/29/2008 5:00 PM
A four-part lecture series exploring the connections between the food we grow and eat, local markets, the potential for thriving local economies and global social equity will begin in late January and continue, one per month, until April. After the final lecture in April, a public workshop will be held to frame a strategy for developing capacity and collaborations towards creating a sustainable and equitable economy in the Pittsburgh area with a focus on local food systems, related green business and tools for local economic transformation to a local living economy.

This lecture series and the public strategy workshop that will follow will build on information and input gathered through three community-based events that have happened recently: the Green Forum on Vacant Land Revitalization (held at the Pittsburgh Project in November 2006), the first Urban Farming Lecture Series in Spring 2006 (hosted at Carnegie Mellon University and organized by the Urban Farming Initiative) and the Cooperate Pittsburgh Grassroots Forum (held at the Friends Meeting House in Shadyside in May 2007. Look for Grassroots Forum’s Link on www.holisticpittsburgh.com). The co-organizers and co-sponsors of this latest lecture series and workshop include Carnegie Mellon University, Office of the Vice Provost and the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management, the Urban Ecology Collaborative, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture, the Penn State Cooperative Ext., Allegheny County, Grow Pittsburgh, the Urban Farming Initiative, the Green Block Farm Project and the Green Bough.

First lecture of series: James Quilligan, American Coordinator for the Global Marshall Plan and Convention on the Global Commons

Speaker Profile: Quilligan has been an analyst and administrator in the field of international development since 1975. He has served as policy advisor and writer for many international politicians and leaders, including Willy Brandt, Jimmy Carter and Tony Blair. Quilligan is currently the managing director of the Centre for Global Negotiations and U.S. Coordinator of the Global Marshall Plan Initiative. These organizations, along with many partners, have launched a multi-stakeholder consultation process that is focused on global development issues, including food security, sustainable agriculture and fair trade. They maintain that bilateral policies based on domestic security interests – such as agricultural subsidies and trade protectionism – are on a collision course with the interests of the global community for multilateral cooperation, justice, sustainability and peace. A draft report is now being created through an interactive Web site, incorporating the wisdom of thousands of global organizations, individuals and
experts. The partners in this consultation network will also be selecting delegates to an international conference in 2010, Convention on the Global Commons, which will reach a consensus on a final plan. (See www.global-commons.org.)

RADIOACTIVE STRONTIUM-90 IN BABY TEETH OF NEW JERSEY CHILDREN
AND THE LINK WITH CANCER: A SPECIAL REPORT
By Joseph J. Mangano, National Coordinator
The Radiation and Public Health Project
Trenton NJ
MaY 19, 2003
unplugsalem.org/radioactive_strontium.htm
...To produce electricity, each reactor must emit relatively low-dose amounts of airborne and liquid radioactivity into the environment. This radioactivity represents over 100 different isotopes only produced in reactors and atomic bombs, including Strontium-89, Strontium-90, Cesium-137, and Iodine-131. Humans ingest them either by inhalation, or through the food chain (after precipitation returns these airborne chemicals to earth).

Each of these 100-plus chemicals has a special biochemical action; iodine seeks out the thyroid gland, strontium clumps to the bone and teeth (like calcium), and cesium is distributed throughout the soft tissues. All are carcinogenic. Each decays at varying rates; for example, Iodine-131 has a half-life of eight days, and remains in the body only a few weeks. Strontium-90 (Sr-90) has a half-life of 28.7 years, and thus remains in bone and teeth for many years.

These chemicals are different from "background" radiation found in nature in cosmic rays and in the earth's surface. Background radiation, while still harmful, contains no chemicals that specifically attack the thyroid gland, bones, or other organs.

Because no nuclear reactor in the U.S. has been ordered since 1978, the current crop of 103 reactors is aging, which presents additional health concerns. As reactors age, their parts are more likely to wear down and malfunction, raising the possibility of higher emissions and increased levels of environmental radioactivity. For example, in March 2002 officials noticed that corrosion from boric acid in the Davis-Besse reactor in Ohio had worn down a steel lid from six inches to three-eighths of an inch...

The Rising Son of the House of JP Morgan.

...some of the owners of the US Federal Reserve Bank are powerful foreign investors from old Europe, including, reportedly, partners with giant US banks such as JP Morgan Chase as well as powerful Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs - a world order banking cartel whose tentacles have profited from every global business activity - and every war - for the last two centuries.

The one attempt in the 20th century to break the power of this de facto-private bank, for this is precisely what the Federal Reserve is - when founded its board comprised 80% private bankers 20% government representatives – failed spectacularly. 44 years ago John F Kennedy attempted to end the Federal Reserve System to eliminate the national debt this ‘so called’ central bank creates by printing money and lending it to government.

On June 4, 1963, presidential order EO 11110 authorised the president to issue currency. Kennedy ordered the US Treasury to print $4 billion worth of "United States Notes" backed incidentally by US bullion reserves, to replace Federal Reserve Notes, which were backed by nothing, so he could end the Federal Reserve System and the control it gave international bankers over the US government and its citizens. Kennedy’s strategy to bring US troops home from Vietnam by the end of 1965, combined with the removal of the Fed’s control of the US money supply would haveb killed the profits of this private bank. Literally as Kennedy’s dollars went into circulation he was assassinated in Dallas.

We Should Start Eating Insects
by Marco Visscher, Ode 1/14/8
http://www.alternet.org/stories/73621/
......meat consumption is rising dramatically. Currently, 70 percent of farmland is being used for meat production. If this trend continues, it will prove unsustainable. Moreover, livestock is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, including methane and nitrous oxide...It's quite normal for most of the world. In tropical countries, people don't eat caterpillars, beetle larvae, grasshoppers and termites because they don't have a choice but because they taste good. Plus insects are high in protein and have essential fatty acids and important vitamins. Which is why food programs in developing countries should increase their focus on insects. Currently, vegetable consumption is emphasized, but it's much more efficient to get nutrients from animals...

We need spiritual guidance

Let's all get on the same page

No one has all the answers. There is no central headquarters somewhere which can be relied on to know what to do. Each of us disagrees about whether we are in a planetary environmental emergency or not, and about the degree of the danger.

Among those (myself included) who think we are in an immediate emergency (not one in the future), there is disagreement about the cause or causes of it. Some think there's nothing that can be done. I think we are in a period of abrupt climate change, caused in large part by humans. Some of us may survive - but only if there is a worldwide understanding that we have a whole system emergency which must be addressed by the most drastic measures.

What do I mean by drastic measures? Get ready for this. You're not likely to like it because it entails too many changes. I would have everyone stop mowing their lawns. We need all the plants we can get growing. I would stop the use of poisons against rats and replace that with encouraging a proliferation of those species which eat rats - such as hawks. I would have rats inoculated with beneficial microbes just as raccoons are now. I would have poultry and other livestock inoculated with beneficial microbes rather than hit them with antibiotics. I would encourage the capture and composting of rats. I would (contrary to what the health department currently recommends) encourage the PROPER, SAFE return to the soil of meat and manures of all types - via composting in large expertly monitored bioreactors to make sure they are culturing good bacteria and other organisms rather than those creatures we've already got enough of like flies, mosquitoes, diseases, rats, woodchucks (groundhogs), squirrels, chipmunks, cats, mice, raccoons, etc.

Were I a benevolent dictator able to tell everybody in the world what to do
(not to worry, that's not likely to ever happen), I'd say stop spending money on sports and get with the program - all hands on deck to save the ecosystem. I'd make public transportation free and tax those so anti-social they drive alone in cars that can hold 4 or more. If you can't face the fact that the whole surface of the Earth is in an emergency, then you're part of the problem rather than being part of the solution. If you see the worldwide emergency but are just too full of grief over the suffering, then grieve; those of us who are in gear will do without you till you recover.
But if you are one of those who - knowing that abrupt climate change is upon us - choose to pretend otherwise for your own selfish interests, I must say I can't help but react emotionally and wish you the warmest spot in a global warming hell.

Why am I so passionate and extreme about changes I think we should make? Maybe it's the claim I read the other day that some scientists are worried that the entire Amazon forest could get caught up in a feedback loop of increasing warming which causes even more carbon dioxide release via more forest fires which cause even more carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere...till the whole forest is destroyed by fire. Maybe it's that the oceans are becoming more acidic and are being overfished at the same time. Maybe it's that I read the CLAIM (being a good researcher I never assume that what I read is true) that the permafrost in Siberia and the Arctic is already melting sufficiently to allow the organic matter underneath to start biodegrading and so provide yet another source of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane. Maybe it's that I know that our military is arming space with new types of weaponry in the continuing refusal to understand the basic lesson that war does not solve problems, only causes more.

Were I the new Big Cheese, I'd put all our military research capabilities to use the same advanced technology that's made ours the world's most powerful to gearing up to manufacture clean vehicles and power stations. I would take away the subsidies for fossil fuels and nuclear power, and use subsidies and other encouragements to promote renewable fuels. I would eliminate gambling except by old ladies who just can't stop going to bingo. I would make all drugs legal under prescription and so put the gangsters out of business. I would insist that all those whose incomes are related to sports either organize backyard games for free or go out and get a real job. Sports is by definition entertainment - something you do to lighten up when the work is done. I'll be for people spending their whole lives playing sports or computer games the day after we get the problems in the world solved.

Shocking Allegations From London: Corrupt U.S. Officials Sold Nuclear Weapons Secrets
The Times of London UK. Posted January 6, 2008.
alternet.org/stories/72851
...western government officials turned a blind eye to, or were even helping, countries such as Pakistan acquire bomb technology..."While the FBI was investigating, several arms of the government were shielding what was going on."
The Turks and Israelis had planted "moles" in military and academic institutions which handled nuclear technology. Edmonds says there were several transactions of nuclear material every month, with the Pakistanis being among the eventual buyers. "The network appeared to be obtaining information from every nuclear agency in the United States,"...
The wider nuclear network has been monitored for many years by a joint Anglo-American intelligence effort. But rather than shut it down, investigations by law enforcement bodies such as the FBI and Britain's Revenue & Customs have been aborted to preserve diplomatic relations...

Melting ice: the threat to London's future
by Paul Brown 7/4/4
guardian.co.uk/science/2004/jul/14/sciencenews.environment
There is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than for 55m years, enough to melt all the ice on the planet and submerge cities like London, New York and New Orleans, Sir David King, the government's chief scientific adviser has warned...said the most recent science bore out the worst predictions..."On current trends, cities like London, New York and New Orleans will be among the first to go.

"Ice melting is a relatively slow process but is speeding up. When the Greenland ice cap goes, the sea level will rise six to seven metres, when Antarctica melts it will be another 110 metres," he said...

Have We Gone Beyond Dangerous Carbon Levels?
by Dr. Glen Barry
climateark.org/blog/2007/12/have_we_gone_to_far_re_dangero.asp
...we have cut and burnt our way to assured massively disruptive climate changes, yet the rapidity and urgency with which we take action will determine whether this is manageable. We need now to embark immediately upon sufficient climate change policies: an Apollo project for renewable energy, population control, ban on coal, end old-growth logging, reduce economic growth, and build sustainable relocalized communities built around bioregions. Actions of this magnitude are needed to survive.

On December 27th, 2007, Catherine Theresa Reilly McCue went home to God. Though three generations of hearts bereft trail her, we know she is with an even bigger family...she is a queen and following behind her is a long and beautiful trail. The previous St. Catherine was also a queen I think. I'll have to look it up.
